Happiness is not in achievement, it’s not in stuff, it’s in people— specifically, it’s with these people you call family
Connection is the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard and
valued. When they can give and receive without judgement.
Relational intelligence, the ability to hold multiple perspectives and tap into
nuance and ambiguity, is key in relationships.
The meaning of words in relationships can vary depending on the cultural context, highlighting
the importance of understanding and questioning assumptions.
The importance of entering into someone’s subjective world and truly listening to their story in
order to understand the dynamics of their relationship.
When you want to scream at your partner, friend or stranger: How could you possibly think this
way?! I would like to encouraging people to instead ask: “How did you come to think this way?” It
communicates a willingness to listen even if you don’t agree. It says you care about them
enough to try to understand. It says: Our relationship is worth it. The answers to “How did you
come to think this way?” often reveal details about a person’s childhood, fears, losses, and hopes
for the world. These are insights you may never have learned had you not asked.
